Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery

The Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery acts as a hub for innovative thinking, discussion and analysis of nature recovery nationally and worldwide, it unites leading researchers from a wide range of disciplines across the University, to collaborate on a range of projects, in conjunction with national and international partners.

Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science

ICCS is a group of conservation scientists working on applied research at the interface of social and ecological systems. They work in collaboration with non-governmental organisations, practitioners, government agencies and businesses to provide approaches which address key conservation issues in every biome.

Nature Positive Universities

NPU is a growing network of people from over 500 higher education institutions across the world, working together to promote nature on campuses, in supply chains and within cities and communities. NPU was founded by UNEP and the University of Oxford in partnership with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

HESTIA platform

Hestia provides an open-access platform that stores standardised data on agricultural production. We also provide harmonized and transparent models to calculate multiple environmental impact indicators and enable benchmarking against similar farms. This allows our users to discern sustainable producers, products, and practices, and deliver science- and data-driven improvements in sustainability.

Nature-Based Solutions Initiative

The Nature-based Solutions Initiative is an international and interdisciplinary research centre, based within the Department of Biology at the University of Oxford. Its mission is to apply impactful research to shape policy and practice on nature-based solutions through research, teaching and engagement with policymakers and practitioners.

Benchmark for Nature

Benchmark for Nature's aim is to power the development of a structured, rigorous, and practically useful framework for assessing investor impacts on living nature. Its approach to estimating impact on biodiversity is designed to support and complement existing approaches to addressing the shortfalls in current ESG assessment approaches, using AI-enabled technologies with biodiversity conservation science.

Glob2Loc

Glob2Loc's aim is to project temporal biodiversity trends from multiple interacting human stressors in a way that integrates with the decision-making processes of end users in multiple sectors (e.g. conservation organisations, industry, government, etc), and then further identify how sets of actions implemented in different times and places might have potential to result in biodiversity net gain.

IUCN Green Status of Species

The IUCN Green Status of Species complements the Red List by providing a tool for assessing the recovery of species’ populations and measuring their conservation success. In 2020, Green Status of Species assessments became an optional part of Red List assessments.

TBC are a leading consultancy formed of biodiversity specialists, environmental data scientists, systems architects and sustainability practitioners working with business, civil society and government to create solutions to the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges. They are pioneering approaches to nature positive and Science-based Targets for Nature with a range of NGO partners and leading companies.
