I am a wildlife ecologist with a particular interest in how human activities and infrastructure impact biodiversity and species. In my current postdoctoral research position, I am researching the impacts of mining on biodiversity, in the context of increasing demand for critical minerals for renewable energy transitions. Prior to this, I completed a PhD in road ecology at Cardiff University with The Road Lab (https://www.theroadlab.co.uk/), using long-term citizen science data to identify temporal and spatial patterns in wildlife-vehicle collision risk for a range of species in the UK.
I love collaborating with researchers from other backgrounds and disciplines and also have experience working directly with industrial partners, such as environmental consultancies and mining companies, and with wildlife charities, such as The Badger Trust. I am also passionate about quantitative methods for understanding ecological patterns and regularly am involved in teaching statistics and R to undergraduates.
